Policy

Admissons policy


The main admission to Performanze is from 2-21. Entry is subject to class availability. Performanze is non-selective. However, we are not able to cater for the needs of children with significant behavioural and learning difficulties in group classes, we are able to offer one to one coaching for children with additional needs. The application form and appropriate fee should then be returned to your Performanze teacher at your trial day who will place your child’s name on the class list for entry in the correct grade/colour/year group. Allegation of Staff abuse policy


‘Governments must do all they can to ensure that children are protected from all forms of violence, abuse, neglect and bad treatment by their parents or anyone else who looks after them’ This document is a statement of the procedures when a member of staff, volunteer, Designated Safeguarding Lead or Headmaster faces allegations of abuse. It was developed through a process of consultation and should be read in conjunction with the Code of Conduct for Staff, the Child Protection, Behaviour & Discipline, Anti-Bullying, eSafety and Equal Opportunities Policies, as well as documentation relating to Keeping Children Safe in Education 2019. An allegation of such seriousness would normally be made directly to the Principal Mrs Rosie Baker;If the Headmaster is unavailable – or is involved - the deputy head Mrs Jill Burnett should be told at once.




Anti Bullying Policy


‘No-one ever deserves to be bullied’ StatementPerformanze is committed to providing a safe and caring environment where children and staff can work and live together. We expect our staff and pupils to treat each other with courtesy and co-operation so that they can teach and learn in a relaxed, fun, orderly atmosphere. All members of the school community should care for and support each other. This is one of the most important life skills we can teach the children and we hope that they will all learn how to be a valuable and valued member of the community during their time with us.Parents/guardians have an important role in supporting the school in maintaining high standards of behaviour. Any kind of bullying is unacceptable. Where necessary, we will apply the sanctions described in our Behaviour and Discipline Policy for behaviour that constitutes bullying or harassment of any kind. What Counts As Bullying? Bullying is behaviour by an individual or group, repeated over time, that intentionally hurts another individual or group either physically or emotionally and includes all children and adults within Performanze.




Behaviour and Discipline Policy


Good behaviour is a necessary condition for effective teaching and learning to take place’. It is our aim to: • Ensure that staff and pupils know and understand what is meant by good behaviour and that they aspire to this. • Encourage the development of self-discipline and sense of responsibility. • Nurture a child’s self-esteem. • Encourage good relationships between children and adults. • Encourage a positive attitude towards Performanze so children show initiative and are willing to take on responsibilities in their dance school • Ensure that pupils respect others feelings, values and beliefs in the context of the active promotion of fundamental British Values. Staff will be clear, fair and friendly – and consistent in the behaviour that they will accept or not accept. All teaching staff will ensure that the school rules are followed. They will maintain discipline throughout the class. Notes will be passed to parents where sanctions or poor behaviour choices have been shown. Parents are expected to ensure that their children arrive ato class on time and that their children Parents are expected to support the staff in maintaining positive in class behaviour and may be called into class if their child’s behaviour is poor.Parents are responsible for children outside their classroom, prior and after class childrens behaviour is the responsibilty of their guardian/parent.




Child Protection Policy


Performanze fully recognises its responsibilities for Safeguarding & Child Protection. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, regardless of age, ability, culture, religion, sexuality or class. Our policy takes full regard of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education 2019’ and ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018’ and the procedures of Wiltshire Children’s Safeguarding Board (see Appendix 7 for further relevant guidance documents). Prevention: Establish and maintain a positive and safe environment where children feel secure, are encouraged to talk, and are listened to, where there is accessible pastoral care, careful and vigilant teaching and good adult role models. Protection: Agreed procedures are followed; staff are trained and supported to respond appropriately and sensitively to any safeguarding concerns. Support: For pupils who may have been at risk of significant harm, for staff and the way they respond to concerns and for any subsequent work that may be required. All staff are: • familiar with this safeguarding policy and have an opportunity to contribute to its review. • alert to the signs and symptoms of possible abuse. • able to record and report concerns as set out in this policy. • able to deal with a disclosure of abuse from a pupil. • involved in the implementation of individual education programmes, integrated support plans, child in need plans and interagency child protection plans as required. Do: • create a safe environment by offering the child a private and safe place if possible. • stay calm and reassure the child, and stress that he/she is not to blame. • tell the child that they were right to tell you and that you know how difficult it must have been to confide in you. • listen carefully and tell the child that you believe them and are taking what is being said seriously, and that you have to speak to someone who can help to keep them safe. • keep questions to a minimum. Encourage the child to use their own words; questioning should only include TED questions: o Tell me o Explain o Describe o And/or use the mirroring technique: o i.e. ‘My dad hit me last night’ respond by ‘Your dad hit you last night?’ • tell only the Designated or Deputy Safeguarding lead. • record in detail using the Child Welfare/Child Protection Incident or Concern Form without delay, using the child’s own words where possible, what you heard or what you saw. Do not: • take photographs of any injuries. • postpone or delay the opportunity for the child to talk. • take notes while the pupil is speaking or record the conversation on any device. • ask the child to write down what they said or repeat it to another adult. • promise confidentiality eg say you will keep ‘the secret’. • investigate the allegation yourself. • approach or inform the alleged abuser.




Collection, Non-Collection & Missing Children Policy


We will hand children over directly to parents/carers or other authorised adults in order to ensure the children’s safety and well-being. At the end of the normal school day, children will be handed over to parents/carers or other named adults from a designated area outside the dance studio. Parents/carers are reminded that once the handover has taken place, they are responsible for their children’s safety and well-being. In the event that a child is not collected by an authorised adult at the end of a school session/day, Performanze puts into practice agreed procedures. These ensure the child is cared for safely by an experienced teacher/adult who is known to the child. Procedures 1. Parents of children starting at Performanze are asked to provide specific information which is included in our registration form, including: • home address and telephone number (if the parents do not have a home telephone, an alternative number must be given) • place of work, address and telephone number; • mobile telephone number; • names, and telephone numbers of adults who are authorised by the parents to collect their children from school (e.g. this might be a childminder, a nanny, grandparents or another relation, or a close family friend); • any information about any person who does not have legal access to the children. 2. On occasions when parents or the persons normally authorised to collect their children are not able to do this, parents can email in advance or speak directly with th teacher at drop off. Such information will not be accepted verbally from young children themselves. 3. If a child is not collected at the end of class; we follow the following procedures: • if no prior notice is available, parents/carers are contacted at home or at work; • if this is unsuccessful the adults, who are authorised by the parents to collect the children, and whose telephone numbers are recorded on the Registration Form are contacted, using the emergency contact as a priority; • all reasonable attempts continue to be made to contact the parents/carers; • while the above procedures are taking place, children are kept safe in the next class within the studio • at the end of the dance school time, every effort will be made to contact parents and as a last resort, we would contact Children’s Services of the local authority in accordance with agreed inter-agency procedures.




Complaints Policy


Performanze is committed to ensuring that complaints will be treated seriously and that there are no impediments to anyone with a legitimate interest making representations or complaints. A complaint is an expression of dissatisfaction by a parent with a real or perceived problem. At all times, the aim will be to resolve concerns as quickly as possible and at the right level.Procedures will be applied with the aim of enabling individuals to raise any concerns and to allow a full and open evaluation of all the relevant issues. Complaints against staff will generally be dealt with by the Principal Rosie Baker - Performanze@live.co.uk, 07745099472 Stage 1: Informal Resolution: It is hoped that most complaints and concerns will be resolved quickly and informally. If parents have a complaint, they should contact their child’s class teacher. In many cases, the matter will be resolved straight away by this means to the parent’s satisfaction. Stage 2: Formal Resolution: If the complaint cannot be resolved on an informal basis, then the parents will be asked to put their complaint in writing to the Principal, who will decide, after considering the complaint, the appropriate and next action to take. In most cases, the Principal will speak to the parents concerned within forty-eight hours of receiving the complaint, to discuss the matter. If possible a resolution will be reached at this stage. It may be necessary for the Principal to carry out further investigations. These will be completed in seven days. There were 0 complaints registered under the formal procedure during 2018/19.




Equal Opportunities Policy


Promoting equal opportunities is fundamental to the aims and ethos of Performanze. Indeed, we value the individuality of all within our community. We are especially committed to giving children and adults every opportunity to achieve the highest standards. Applications from candidates with as diverse a range of backgrounds as possible are welcomed. This enriches our community and is vital in preparing our pupils for today’s world. We concentrate on educating the individual and providing a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere where each individual feels valued and can flourish. Performanze is committed to equal treatment for all, regardless of an individual’s race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, learning difficulty, body image or social background. Bursaries are offered in order to make it possible for as many local children or those from serving military backgrounds. We promote the principle of fairness and justice for all through the education that we provide at Performanze. We recognise that doing this may entail treating some members of our community differently. We seek to ensure that everyone has equal access to the full range of opportunities provided by the dance school. We constantly strive to remove any forms of indirect discrimination that may form barriers to learning for some groups. We challenge personal prejudice and stereotypical views whenever they occur. We value each person’s worth, we celebrate the individuality and cultural diversity of the Performanze community. Requests for Variation in the School Uniform: We welcome people of all faiths and offer the opportunity for Jews, Hindus, Muslims etc to practice their own faiths. However, parents should be aware that all pupils at Performanze are required to wear a uniform. The Principal will consider written requests from parents for variations in the uniform on religious or other grounds that are consistent with the school’s ethos and its policy on health and safety.




GDPR


In accordance with the GPDR Statement. GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation and replaces the previous Data Protection. It was approved by the EU Parliament in 2016 and came into effect on 25th May 2018. GDPR states that personal data should be ‘processed fairly & lawfully’ and ‘collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes’ and that individuals data is not processed without their knowledge and are only processed with their ‘explicit’ consent. GDPR covers personal data relating to individuals. Annette Adams School is committed to protecting the rights and freedoms of individuals with respect to the processing of children's, parents, visitors and staff personal data. The Data Protection Act gives individuals the right to know what information is held about them. It provides a framework to ensure that personal information is handled properly. What we do at Performanze We do not disclose or sell personal data to third parties. In the interest of child saftey, as per our safe guarding policy details may be shared with relevent authorities. Where children need licences for events details as passed to relevent companies with parents prior permission. The School uses contact numbers and emails for newsletters, updates, whole school and individual communication, invoices and general information.Please note that parents have a group WhatsApp group however parents may opt out of this group should they wish. Emergency Parent contact numbers are given to teachers for the sole use of emergency contact only. Personal data is stored in a locked password encrypted online database and locked invoicing system. Hard copy information is destroyed via secure information shredding service. ​​ Performanze stores personal data held visually in photographs or video clips or as sound recordings. No names are stored with images in photo albums, displays, on the website or on Performanze social media sites. The staff and administartion team have sole access to all this data. Portable data storage used to store personal data, e.g. USB memory stick, are password protected and/or stored in a locked filing cabinet.




Photography and Filmig Policy


If a parent wishes to photograph or film classes, they may do so with the permission of the Principal and the teacher's consent, however we operate a policy that protects families that do not wish their children to be photographed or filmed. If this policy is found to be breeched we will ask you to remove all evidence of the photography/filming. Performanze uses our own Photograph's and Filming as a platform to advertise the School and to celebrate it's students's achievements. The School Photo's and Filming will be published of children at the School and we ask that all members of the School notify the School if you do not want wish your child to be photographed or filmed.

  1. Parents taking photos with others people children in is not permittable
  2. No photographs or videos taken by parents maybe posted onto Social Media platforms.
  3. Permission must be sought in advance from teachers and/or Principal
  4. Performanze has the right to use photos to advertise the school and students sucess. If parents request images not be used Performanze will immediatley withdraw photographic/video footage




Adverse Weather Policy


The decision to close in adverse weather conditions is not taken lightly and is always a last resort. In the event of closure we aim to inform parents by lunchtime if it is necessary to close. We will do this by texting on WhatsApp, posting on Facebook and emailing. Children's, parent's and staffs welfare are as always paramount. We do not want people unnecessarily placed at risk.
