Ballet

Ballet is the basis of many dance styles and is the foundation of all dance technique. 

Aims & Objectives

  • Develop an assured and confident sense of performance

  • Develop technical accuracy, whether based upon classical or character work

  • Ability to understand spatial awareness

  • Where applicable, involvement within the character with convincing mime and assured use of properties

  • Correct alignment and placing of the body to the best of the individual physical facility

  • Appropriate use of the limbs, with an understanding of the purpose of each exercise, thus developing motor skills

  • Sense of line and coordination of movement

  • Rhythmic and musical awareness

  • An appreciation of artistry, both in own movement and that of others

Tap

From productions such as 42nd Street, Hot Shoe Shuffle and Tap Dogs. 

Tap is a percussive style of dance which focuses on rhythm and co-ordination. It is fun, lively and provides an excellent opportunity to improve musicality whilst learning the tap technique.

Modern

Shown in West End in musicals such as ‘Fame’, ‘Grease’, ‘Cats’ and ‘Dirty Dancing’ to name but a few. It is a crossover between the more funky street dance style and the discipline of classical ballet; incorporating a combination of jazz, lyrical movement and isolations into prepared exercises.

Jazz

This class is free style dancing  and includes Jazz from Westend to current chart music. Working on strength and flexibility with various street jazz routines. It's great fun, fast moving, high energy and very good for performance skills.

  • Development of control of isolation and dynamic in dance movement.

  • Understanding of space and dance formation.

  • Appreciation of audience and sense of performance

  • Encourage an artistic sense of self-expression

  • Encourage musicality and style.  

  • Promote self confidence in troupe and as a solo artist

  • Gain a good sense of line through the body, arms and head

  • Gain strength and flexibility to perform advanced movements. 

Acrobatics is a unique blend of dancing and gymnastic disciplines. Loved by both teachers and students alike. Stunning moves from gymnastics is blended with steps and routines from the dance world for a unique and modern approach to dance.

Aerial silks, artists perform aerial acrobatics while hanging from a fabric. Aerial hoop involves making shapes and poses under, in and on the hoop. A Great work, challenging co-ordination and focus plus developing strength and flexibility, all while climbing and hanging upside down !

We offer individual drma qualifications with LAMDA.  A Speech and Communications Board overseen by OFQUAL that offers exams resulting in qualifications in both Speech and Drama that are recognised around the world.

1-2-1 Coaching

This lesson is for students needing additional support for confidence or exam prep or for students with an aptitude and personality to compete. Competitions are held locally and Nationally.

An expressive dance combining elements of modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Brought to popularity from programmes such as Dance Moms and Greatest Dancer.

Aims and Objectives

  • Development technique and skills

  • Gain confidence in performing, using floor work

  • Ability to develop facial expressions and add emotion to the performance

  • Ability to develop a portrayal of the emotive response from the mind, using the body as a source of expression

This lesson is for students showing an aptitude and personality suited to competition and large scale performing opportunities The students dance in competitions and shows all over the UK throughout the year.

Festivals

This lesson is for students with an aptitude and personality to compete. Competitions are held locally and Nationally.Students must preprae routines between 1:30 and 3:30 for competitions and can compete in solos, duets. and small group dances.
